The nitty gritty details :)

Ok, so since i haven't posted on the blog in so long I don't know how to do it anymore :) haha. The formatting is all different and technology and I are working out our relationship.

Reid and I welcomed a beautiful baby boy to our family on Tuesday May 18th at 11:29 pm. I must say he is one handsome little guy! We named him Eliah Angelo Mosman. He is 7 pounds 9 ounces, 18 and 3/4 inches long, and has a lot of long dark hair. He is so handsome!

The delivery was fast and furious! Three weeks ago I had false labor. The contractions started on a Sunday and were 15 minutes apart for about 9 hours. They then quickly jumped to 5 minutes apart for the rest of the day and on into Monday. Thank goodness my mom was in town to help us figure things out. Thanks Mom for your sacrifice of staying extra unscheduled days to see if the little guy decided to come! Needless to say he decided he wasn't quite ready to show us his beautiful face.
A week later we had our weekly check up and that night at 7:50 I started to have contractions 3 minutes apart for four hours. They then died down and I was able to get a few hours of sleep. Still no baby yet.
Then this last Tuesday we had our weekly check up and needless to say at about 7:55 or so my contractions kicked in at 3 minutes apart. So I told Reid to time them to just see what happens. We figured it was another false alarm. At about 9 pm I had this huge pop in my stomach (Don't ask me how to describe it, cause I can't.) This scared me half to death and I started crying, not knowing what was happening. This in turn freaked Reid and and he demanded we go to the hospital to make sure our bundle of joy was ok. Reid helped me to the car because my contractions were pretty intense. (Thank goodness the hospital is two blocks away!) About 100 yards from the hospital my water broke! (Yep all over the front seat of our new car). We pulled up and headed up to labor and delivery. Reid was so cute, he walked ahead as we entered the labor and delivery to try to get someone to help us asap. The nurses took us to our room and started to get things in order for the labor. Well, they were extremely surprised to find out that I was progressing much faster than they were expecting! I wanted to deliver all natural and so I refused IV or epidural. Well, contractions got so bad I demanded an epidural. About 20 minutes later the anesthesiologist showed up and was trying to explain everything to me during my contractions that were 1 min apart at this point. One nurse suggested I see what I am dilated to. Well, my cervix was gone, I made it all the way to the point of just needing to push! I couldn't believe it. So, I opted to not have the epidural, hoping I wouldn't be at this stage for too long! I pushed on two contractions and Eliah started to crown. The doctor wasn't even there yet (unfortunately our midwife was at another delivery two hours away). So, they had me stop pushing--you don't do that to a pregnant woman at that stage in labor, it is not possible!! Dr. Le walked in in time to put on his gloves and tell me to push. Two pushes later our little sweet pea was here!! I couldn't believe that from start to finish my labor was 3 1/2 hours! Thank you little guy for coming quickly :)
Your daddy and I are so happy you are a part of our little family! We love you so much, and words can not express what you mean to us!

Congrats! He is so cute! I'm jealous of the quick labor and delivery, though...

Congratulations Britta! I'm happy that your labor and delivery went so quickly, but like Monica, I too am jealous.
